Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 26, 2026
1. Introduction
ChompCalc ("we," "our," or "us") operates the website located at chompcalc.com (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights under applicable law — including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).
By using ChompCalc, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. If you disagree with any part of this policy, please discontinue your use of the Service.
2. Information We Collect
Calculator inputs:All calculator computations happen entirely in your browser. We do not transmit, store, or log any numbers you enter into ChompCalc's calculators. Your financial figures, health data, and any other inputs never leave your device.
Usage data: We use Google Analytics to collect anonymized, aggregated data about how visitors use the site. This includes pages visited, time on page, browser type, device type, and approximate geographic region (country or city level). This data cannot be used to identify you personally.
Cookies and local storage: We use a single first-party cookie to store your theme preference (light or dark mode). No persistent identifiers, session tokens, or tracking pixels are set by ChompCalc directly. Third-party services we use (Google Analytics, Google AdSense) may set their own cookies as described below.
Contact submissions: If you reach out to us through our contact page, any information you voluntarily provide (such as your name or message) is used solely to respond to your inquiry and is not shared with third parties.
3. Google Analytics
ChompCalc uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand aggregate traffic patterns. Google Analytics collects information such as how often users visit this site, what pages they visit, and what other sites they used prior to visiting this site. We use the information from Google Analytics only to improve the Service.
Google Analytics uses cookies to collect this information. You can prevent Google Analytics from recognizing you on return visits by disabling cookies in your browser. You can also opt out by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
4. Google AdSense and Advertising
We display advertisements served by Google AdSense. Google uses cookies — including the DoubleClick DART cookie — to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to our website and other websites on the internet. The use of DART cookies allows Google and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to our site and/or other sites on the internet.
Users may opt out of the use of the DART cookie by visiting the Google Ad Settings page. Alternatively, you can opt out of third-party vendor cookies for interest-based advertising by visiting aboutads.info or the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page.
ChompCalc does not control the privacy practices of Google or other advertising partners. Please review their respective privacy policies for more information.
5. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Analyze and improve the performance and usability of the Service
- Understand which calculators are most useful to visitors
- Serve relevant advertisements through Google AdSense
- Respond to direct inquiries submitted through the contact page
- Comply with our legal obligations
We do not sell, rent, or trade any personal information to third parties for their marketing purposes.
6. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), our legal basis for collecting and using information is as follows:
- Legitimate interests: Analytics and service improvement, where such interests are not overridden by your rights.
- Consent: Where you have provided explicit consent for advertising cookies, which you may withdraw at any time via the cookie consent banner or your browser settings.
- Contract performance: Where processing is necessary to fulfill a service you have requested.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Right to access: Request a copy of the information we hold about you.
- Right to rectification: Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Right to erasure: Request deletion of your data where there is no compelling reason for continued processing.
- Right to restriction: Request that we restrict the processing of your data.
- Right to data portability: Receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Right to object: Object to our processing of your data based on legitimate interests.
- CCPA rights: California residents have the right to know about personal information collected, to opt out of its sale (we do not sell personal data), and to non-discrimination for exercising these rights.
To exercise any of these rights, please use our Contact page. Contact options will be available soon — see our Contact page for updates.
8. Data Retention
Since we do not store calculator inputs, there is no calculator data to retain or delete. Anonymized analytics data is retained in accordance with Google Analytics' standard data retention periods (26 months by default). Any contact messages you send are retained only for as long as necessary to respond to your inquiry and are then securely deleted.
9. Data Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect any information processed by the Service. The site is served over HTTPS. Calculator computations are performed entirely client-side, meaning sensitive inputs are never transmitted to our servers. No security system is impenetrable, however, and we cannot guarantee the absolute security of any information transmitted to or from the Service.
10. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13, please use our Contact page and we will promptly delete it.
11. Third-Party Links
The Service may contain links to third-party websites. We have no control over, and assume no responsibility for, the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any site you visit.
12. International Transfers
ChompCalc is operated from Turkey and the United States. If you are located in the EEA or elsewhere, your information may be transferred to and processed in countries with different data protection laws. By using the Service, you consent to this transfer. Where applicable, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or other appropriate safeguards for international transfers.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised policy on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
14. Contact
If you have questions or concerns about this Privacy Policy or our data practices, please use our Contact page. Contact options will be available soon — see our Contact page for updates.
